Day 4 – Katie Louthan

Friday, May 22, 2015 – Katie Louthan

Today in Hong Kong, full of making memories. I personally had the opportunity to share a devotional this morning that was based on Prov. 3:13 and wisdom. After breakfast and the devotional, we were able to relax for a little while, which was much needed after the long day walking around yesterday at the U.S. Consulate and Hong Kong University. About seven of us then visited the Flower Market, which was full of absolutely beautiful bouquets and exotic flowers. The lilies were so large and open; overall, the flowers were very bright and just magnificent. We then walked to the Bird Market, where we saw many species of birds that were all different colors and sizes in beautiful cages. Everything here is in large quantities and there are always so many options of products in all the markets and restaurants.

For lunch we were able to have some delicious , exotic fruits; the Asian pear I ate today was one of the best I have ever had.

This afternoon was my favorite meeting since we’ve been here — an awesome lady named Nicole Malosi came and spoke to us. An American, she has an awesome job in finance and business development for the DFS Division of LVMH (Louis Vuitton-Moet-Hennessey) and now lives in Hong Kong with her husband and son, while being able to travel and develop stores throughout the world. She is definitely someone I aspire to be like in life someday; thus it was such an incredible company and person to learn about.

This evening we were able to go to a really neat dim sum restaurant and they had a large selection of food in bamboo baskets there. The few things I did try I was not too fond of, but at least I tried them. I was not up for eating chicken feet, but quite a few of my brave peers (five men and one woman) did eat the chicken feet, and it was quite an experience just watching them. Overall,  today was incredible and we are truly living the dream.
